How to Make a Gift Bag

The perfect way to match your gift wrapping to your gift bag. This simple craft gives any present that special touch...
You will need:
  • Sellotape
  • Cardboard box
  • Cardboard
  • Wrapping paper
  • Ribbon/chord
Step 1: Find a cardboard box that is the same size as the gift bag you would like to make. Neatly wrap the box in the wrapping paper of your choice. Be careful when wrapping the bottom of the gift bag. See pictures.
Step 2: Neatly press/pinch the edges of the gift bag to create the folds. This will help create the shape of the bag once the box is removed.
Step 3:  Create an insert for the bottom of the bag. This will help the bag keep its shape and support the gift once in the bag. You can do this by using the bottom of the box as a stencil.
Step 4: Fold the sides of the bag in half to create the finished shape.
Step 5:  Fold over the top of the bag. To do this, you need to fold the wrapping paper inwards.
Step 6: Hole punch the top of the bag on both sides.
Step 7:  Thread ribbon/chord/pipe cleaners through the holes of the bag to create the handles. Knot either end. You could use a contrasting colour or if you wanted a more coordinated look, use matching ribbon.
Making with kids: Why not make the bag out of plain white/brown paper and decorate the bag? Or  create your own print. This would make the bag really personal and special. :)
